J. Jerald Bellomo
Jerry Bellomo received his undergraduate degree in History and Politics from the University of Toronto in 1969 and his M.A. from Carleton University in Canadian History in 1970.
He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1975.
Before joining the legal department of the City of Ottawa in 1977, Jerry taught high school and was enrolled in the Parliamentary Internship Program in Ottawa. He was the City Solicitor for the old City of Ottawa from 1995 to 2000 and for the new City from 2001 to 2006. He has also been Legal Counsel for the City of Ottawa Non-Profit Housing Corporation Board of Directors and the Ottawa Police Services Board.
Jerry has written extensively, with articles in various publications, including Municipal World magazine, on municipal law, political science and history. He has also been a regular lecturer on municipal law topics at the Canadian Bar Association and Law Society of Upper Canada Continuing Education Courses. In 2006 and 2007 he has given several guest lectures at the University of Ottawa Law School and at Osgoode Hall Law School.
