In the early 1970s, Thom Mowry began his municipal career as a Law Clerk in the Legal Department of the former City of Sudbury. In 1982 he left the City to become the Deputy Town Clerk of Whitchurch-Stouffville, returning to the City of Sudbury in December, 1984 to take up the position of Manager of Administration and Deputy City Clerk.
In November, 1994 Thom was appointed City Clerk for the City of Sudbury, a position he held until the year 2000 when he was appointed Returning Officer by the Transition Board of the new City of Greater Sudbury. He was then appointed City Clerk for the City of Greater Sudbury. In July, 2005 Thom retired.
Since retiring Thom has conducted a Governance Review for the Council of the City of Greater Sudbury and appeared before the Ontario Municipal Board as the City’s sole witness in support of the City’s ward boundaries application. He has also worked for both Elections Canada and Elections Ontario and as a contract employee of Elections Systems and Software.
Thom is a graduate of Trent University (Peterborough) and Cambrian College (Sudbury).
